‘The city of Bordeaux’

Bordeaux has a lot to offer. Of course there are nice food-shops but I prefer to go to the food-market. The things you can get there are incredible. I love cheese. So over here it’s no problem of getting good cheeses  from France, Italy, Spain etc. But never have I seen so many I didn’t know yet. I became like a little boy in a toy-shop.
If you like sea-food there’s plenty and it’s very fresh. For two persons (€ 25,-) you get a plate of six oyster, whelks, nice prawns, crab claws and mussels. That’s very reasonable. There are also several small restaurants. https://marchedescapucins.com

Pastry and chocolate are another of my favorite things. I seem to have a nose for it finding pastry- and chocolates-shops. One of them is called ‘OPERA’. The special pastry of Bordeaux is called Canelé. It’ a small French pastry flavored with rum and vanilla with a soft and tender custard center and a dark, thick caramelized crust. ‘Canelés Baillardran’ has many shops in Bordeaux  and they sell mainly fine canelés.

For chocolate ‘Hasnaâ’ is one of the best artisan chocolatiers in Bordeaux. The artisan chocolatier is Hasnaâ Ferreira. And boy does she knows how to make chocolate! She sells only ‘Grand Cru’ (the best quality) chocolate,

Bordeaux naturally has museums of which ‘The City of Wine’ is for me the most interesting. It has two restaurants, a wine-shop, a wine-boutique, the big museum and several tasting-rooms. This is a must if you like wine. With the ticket you buy you get a free glass of wine to taste. The tasting area is on the top floor.
If you like to taste wine in an eighteenth century building I would gladly recommend ‘le Bar à Vin’ au 3, cours du XXX Juillet.
Three restaurant I visited and also liked are 1. ‘La Tupina’, www.latupina.com. 2. ‘Le Petit Commerce’ (known for its fish) on 22, Rue Parlement Saint-Pierre, 3. and last but not least ‘l’Entrecôte’, https://www.entrecote.fr. This restaurant has only one formula : a small salad, a large portion of excellent thin sliced beef with a sauce and French fries (for € 19,50). The drinks and the dessert are not included. But they don’t take reservations. You have to stand in line to get a table.

I can go on and on about Bordeaux but you can discover Bordeaux also yourself by tram, bus or walking.
One of the thing that’s very unique is ‘Le Miroir d’eau’ (‘the Water Mirror’). This attraction is beloved by the younger and even older generation. In fact it is a kind of water-mirror on the ground where you can walk on and play on without wearing your shoes, https://www.bordeaux-tourism.co.uk/Discover-Bordeaux/What-do-you-feel-like/A-holiday-with-kids/The-Miroir-d-Eau
